The Cert. In TEFL is a practically based intensive course that prepares non-native speakers of English for the practical realities of teaching English.

Classroom activities for Communicative Language Teaching

You will gain a broad overview of Communicative Language Teaching practice, and you will think about your own teaching techniques and how they can be improved. You'll cover course design and adapting resources, and get extensive practice in teaching reading, writing, speaking and listening. You'll also master classroom activities that can be adapted for a range of teaching situations and purposes. Time is also set aside for language development work that focuses on your particular needs.

As well as attending workshops, you will get assistance from our mentors when you return to the classroom to apply your new skills. They will support you through the online campus with advice, activities and practical teaching tips. You'll get the support you need to deal with all the classroom issues that arise.

Courses can be adapted for the needs of individual institutions, and courses in New Zealand can also include a Study Tour option.

Prerequisites
The minimum level of English required for entry to this course is pre-intermediate and above, which is 5 IELTS.

Course covers the core skills that you need to practise effectively in the classroom. Includes Communicative Language Training; lesson planning; use of practical activities; classroom management; and student correction.
